Safi Ullah’s ‘Noroke Aj Bristi Holo’ Published in Book Fair

Safi Ullah, a promising young fiction writer, writes a novel on pedophilia titled ‘Noroke Aj Bristi Holo’, today it rains in the hell in English. Panjeree Publications Limited publishes this book. ‘Noroke Aj Bristi Holo’ is available at pavilion no. 19 for BDT 180.

Pedophilia is a psychic disorder in which an adult or older adolescent experiences a primary or exclusive sexual attraction to prepubescent children. Safi Ullah pictures the pedophilic disorder of a girl to some extent in his novel. He also narrates the usual happenings of our city life from a different angle.

Safi Ullah says about the book, ‘Pedophilia is an acute problem in our society. Though almost everyone experiences pedophilia, at least is aware of this problem, anyone hardly raises their voice against it. Young children, both male and female, are to face sexual harassment even at their pre-mature age. In their adult age, they are affected by the effect of pedophilia. It becomes much more severe when they become parents. I have pictured these types of scenes in this novel.”

He adds, “‘Noroke Aj Bristi Holo’ is all about a girl who has experienced pedophilia in her childhood and now she along with her female child is fleeing away from her daily life. We’ll see how she sees and observes society.”

Safi Ullah usually satirizes social injustice and depicts the society in such a way that compels the readers to think about their known surroundings from another perspective.

Safi Ullah, a graduate and postgraduate from Dhaka University, is a lecturer in the Department of English at Sheikh Hasina University, Netrakona. ‘Noroke Aj Bristi Holo’ is his first novel and third book. He authored ‘Sat Number Bus’ in 2016 and ‘Golpogulor Ortho Nei’ in 2018. Both are collections of short fiction.
