Over 6 Crore People Get Govt’s Relief Assistance

As part of the government's continuing effort to mitigate human suffering in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, more than 6 crore people have already received government assistance.

"So far, the government has given relief assistance to more than 6 crore people of over 1.25 crore families throughout the country," said the official release today.

According to the information obtained from the district authorities of 64 districts as of 29 May, a total of 1,62,193 tons of rice out of 1,91,817 tons allocated was distributed among 6,11,48,771 beneficiaries of 1,36,87,244 families.

To date, the government has allocated cash to Taka 110 crore. Among these, Taka 86,4372264 crore was allotted to provide cash assistance, while Taka 72,5598996 crore was already distributed to 3,75,10,858 among 81,10,303 families.

Besides, Taka 23.94 crore was allocated for purchasing baby food while Taka 18.4935054 crore has been distributed among around 12,49,450 people of 5,84,640 families across the country.
