A total of 159 more people were found positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) in the Chattogram district after testing 389 samples in the two COVID-19 laboratories in the last 24 hours.
Of the 159 newly detected COVID-19 cases, 115 are residents of the port city and the remaining 44 are residents of different district Upazilas.
Dr. Sheik Fazle Rabbi, a civil surgeon at Chattogram, told media that 97 more new COVID-19 patients were identified at Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) after testing 231 samples in last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 61 new COVID-19 patients were found at CVASU, Chattogram after testing 141 samples, the civil surgeon said.
There is no report of new infection of COVID-19 from BITID, Chattogram in the last 24 hours, Dr. Rabbi added.
On the other hand, no resident of Lohagara Upazila was reported as COVID-19 positive after testing 17 samples at Cox's Bazar Medical College Hospital in the last 24 hours.
With this, the total numbers of COVID-19 patients rose to 2584 only in Chattogram district till today.
So far, 74 people died in the Chattogram district due to COVID-19, and 205 people were released from the hospital after recovery, sources said.
