Coronavirus cases in Bangladesh keep surging as health officials confirmed another 4,014 cases in the last 24 hours as of Monday.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 1,41,801.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services, the number of total infections and fatalities from the deadly virus stood at 1,783 respectively as 45 people died within this time frame.
Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana came up with the disclosure at its daily online briefing.
In the last 24 hours, 65 laboratories across the country tested 17,837 samples, she added.
Bangladesh first reported its COVID-19 cases on 8 March. Since then, the country has been witnessing an increase in infections and deaths.
Coronavirus first emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan last December and then spread to 213 countries and territories.
