Dhaka’s Air Quality Turns ‘Unhealthy’ Again

After a marked improvement in quality over the last few days, Dhaka, Bangladesh 's capital, ranked 3rd in the Air Quality Index ( AQI) on Friday morning.

The mega city had an AQI score of 153 at 8:55 a.m. and its air quality was classified as 'unhealthy.'

When AQI scores between 151 and 200, some members of the general population may notice health effects and leaders of vulnerable communities may continue to suffer more severe health effects.

Pakistan's Lahore and India's Delhi rated first and second in the list of cities with AQI scores of 173 and 158, respectively.

AQI, an index for the reporting of everyday air quality, tells people how healthy or unhealthy the environment in a given area is and what health consequences that be of interest to them.

In Bangladesh, the AQI is focused on five pollutant criteria: Particulate Matter (PM10 and PM2.5), NO2, CO , SO2 and Ozone (O3).
