President Greets Countrymen on Eid-ul-Azha

President Md Abdul Hamid today greeted the countrymen and Muslims from all across the world on the occasion of Holy Eid-ul-Azha to be celebrated here tomorrow.

In a message, the President said that the spirit of sacrifice of Eid-ul-Azha is a unique example of showing respect and love to the Almighty Allah.

Hazrat Ibrahim (AS), he said, has set an incomparable example of love, obedience and sacrifice to Allah by taking steps to sacrifice his beloved son Hazrat Ismail (AS) by the directive of Allah.

"Azha means for Qurbani (sacrifice). Realizing the nature of sacrifice, we will have to be imbued with the spirit of sacrifice and exhibit patience in order to pave the way for stability and development in society, "said Abdul Hamid.

"If the lesson of sacrifice is reflected in our personal and social life, peace and fraternity will be established in society," he said.

The President said this year that the Eid-ul-Azha is being observed at a period when the international community is overwhelmed by the tragedy that has occurred as a consequence of the coronavirus pandemic when many people are in trouble in various areas of the planet.

“We all will have to extend our cooperation for the welfare of these people,” he said.

He urged all to become conscious and maintain health guidelines in daily life and movement outside of home to check the spread of coronavirus.

“The pledge of this Eid-ul-Azha be to remain myself sound and keep others healthy too,” he said.

The President also called on people to slaughter their livestock in government-appointed sites and to follow good safety standards in all practices, including the procurement of beef and the treatment of animal waste.

The Head of State wished that the Eid-ul-Azha would bring happiness and imbue everyone with the ideology of sacrifice.
