A gala welcome was offered at the airport to the World Cup-winning under 19 cricket team. The squad got a rousing reception and BCB president Nazmul Hassan said every player will receive Tk 100,000 per month's salary for the next two years.

BCB president said the grand reception at Suhrawardy Udyan was postponed by a week because the players are tired and many will have to go home.

While Bangladesh cricket has many memorable moments, with the national team playing in the quarter-finals of the World Cup, winning against all top teams, as well as the women’s team also providing thrills, the greatest success came from the south side.

"But nothing is bigger than winning the World Cup; this is because of our long-term planning and we're going to have a two-year contract with cricketers, and they're going to get training plus Tk 100,000 salaries every month," Hassan said.

“We made Khaled Mahmud the head of the Game Development Committee and this is the result of a strategic approach, he said adding: “There aren’t any superstars here, it’s totally teamwork.”

These players are Bangladesh's cricket prospects and the responsibility is on them to deliver in the future, Hassan observed.
