Prince Charles Tests Positive for COVID-19

Prince Charles has been tested positive for coronavirus.

Clarence House confirmed that the 71-year-old royal had been diagnosed with COVID-19 in a statement issued this morning, Sky News reports.

It is claimed that the successor to the throne showed "mild signs" but "otherwise continues in good health" and was self-isolated in Scotland with the Duchess of Cornwall-who screened negative for coronavirus.

"The Prince of Wales has tested positive for coronavirus," the statement said.

"He has displayed minor signs, but generally appears in good health and has served as normal from home during the last few days."

The Duchess of Cornwall has also been screened but does not have the infection. The Prince and the Duchess are now self-isolating at home in Scotland, in accordance with policy and medical guidance.

"The tests were carried out by the NHS in Aberdeenshire where they met the criteria required for testing.

"It is not possible to ascertain from whom the Prince caught the virus owing to the high number of engagements he carried out in his public role during recent weeks."

The last public engagement for Prince Charles was a lunch and dinner in favor of the Australian bushfire relief campaign on March 12, hosted at Mansion House in London.

The Prince of Wales had attended an investiture ceremony at Buckingham Palace earlier that day, where he greeted recipients with a non-contact motion owing to fears over the spread of the disease.
