A nine-day online Miniature Art Project DOOB (Immersion) will kick off on Thursday.

Young Bangladeshi artist Azizee Fawmi Khan is the initiator of this project, which is her very first attempt at curing art. The virtual art project will be shown on social media platforms from June 25 to July 3.

Azizee said Doob is an independent and multidisciplinary online 'Miniature' art project designed to showcase nine emerging young artists from Bangladesh.

"At its core, Doob is proposing to his collaborators to examine their understanding of this now somewhat submerged world, nature and biodiversity at the time of this pandemic," the artist said.

She said that Doob's first contact occurred at the beginning of June at the time of World Environment Day, which started as a conversation between a few artists on social media.

Some artists directly address social and environmental issues in this project, while others find optimism in the nature and simplicity of life. One tries to dive further into one's mind to examine the various states of being, she said.

Azizee said since usual gallery based art practice is no more an option at this moment, all the artists have been working from home. So, Miniature was chosen as the project's art form to overcome the limitation of space.

"The aim of this project is to retain these perceptions, to raise awareness of nature and all the important things in life. So that we breathe in a better, brighter and more harmonious world, because we are about to resurface, "said the initiator.

Collaborating artists include Sara Hossain, Antora Mehrukh Azad, Anannya Mehpar Azad, Nosra Jahan Titly, Arzina Ahasan, Sarah Jabin, Shipra Rani Biswas, Taniya Rahman Roshney and Shaily Shrabonti.
