Ronaldo Returns to Training after 72 Days

Five-time World Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo joined Serie A Juventus champions for training on Tuesday after a 72-day absence, including the last two weeks of quarantine.

The 35-year-old was filmed arriving at the Continassa training ground in a black car in Turin and was expected to undergo medical treatment before joining coach Maurizio Sarri and his teammates.

Ronaldo flew back to his native Madeira after Juventus defeated Inter Milan 2-0 behind closed doors on 8 March, their last game before Serie A was suspended owing to a novel coronavirus outbreak.

He flew to Turin in a private jet earlier this month, but then had to spend two weeks at home under Italy's quarantine rules.

Serie A clubs returned to practicing on 4 May but are limited to working in small groups and will comply with the guidelines for social distancing.

The government is still deliberating on whether to allow Series A to reopen but said on Monday that it would not happen until at least June 14, one day after the League had hoped to begin.

The squad is still without forward Gonzalo Higuain who only returned to Italy from Argentina last Thursday and must spend another 10 days in quarantine.
