Mild Heatwave Sweeps Eight Divisions, Rain Likely In Sylhet

A mild to moderate heatwave is affecting eight divisions across the country, according to the latest forecast from the meteorological office for the next 24 hours starting from 9 am today.

The forecast indicates that Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions are experiencing this heatwave, with the possibility of it continuing. Sylhet division might experience rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind, and isolated places may even see hails.

Elsewhere in the country, the weather is expected to remain mainly dry with occasional partly cloudy skies. A trough of westerly low pressure extends from West Bengal to the northwest Bay.

The maximum temperature on Thursday reached 39.5 degrees Celsius at Ishwardi, while the minimum temperature today was 24.0 degrees Celsius recorded at Tetulia. Rajshahi saw the highest rainfall of 03 millimeters in the last twenty-four hours until 6 am today.

Day and night temperatures are likely to remain nearly unchanged nationwide. However, due to increased moisture incursion, discomfort may persist.

Today, the sun sets at 06:35 pm and rises at 05:15 am tomorrow in the capital.
