A cyclone may form in the Bay of Bengal in the last week of this month, according to Mustafa Kamal Palash, a weather and climate researcher at the University of Saskatchewan. He stated that the cyclone could occur between November 24 and 28.

He said, "The American weather forecast model indicates the possibility of a cyclone forming in the Bay of Bengal in the last week of November. If this cyclone forms, it will be named 'Fengal,' which was given by Saudi Arabia. The cyclone is expected to be weak in nature."

Palash shared this information through a post on his Facebook on Friday (November 15).

He further added that there is a possibility of a low-pressure area forming on November 23-24 to the southeast of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This low pressure could intensify into a cyclone and move westward, potentially hitting the Tamil Nadu state of India and Sri Lanka.

However, Palash assured that, based on current weather indicators, there is no likelihood of this cyclone affecting the coastal areas of Bangladesh. According to the forecast received until November 14, this is unlikely.

Nevertheless, due to the potential effects of this cyclone, rainfall is expected in the districts of Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions of Bangladesh.
