Air pollution levels are increasing every day in various countries around the world for different reasons. Today, Saturday (December 14), Dhaka is at the top of the list of the most polluted cities in the world. This information was provided by the international air quality technology company IQAir at 9 AM.
Dhaka, ranked first in air pollution, has a score of 263, meaning the air quality here is very unhealthy for citizens. Kolkata, India, ranks second with a score of 228, while Lahore, Pakistan, is in third place with a score of 222. This means the air quality in these cities is also very unhealthy.
On Friday (December 13), Dhaka was at the top of the air pollution list with a score of 249, indicating that the air quality was very unhealthy for citizens even the previous day. Kolkata ranked second with a score of 248, while Delhi, India, was in third place with a score of 208.
An AQI score between 0 and 50 is considered good. A score between 51 and 100 is considered moderate, and a score between 101 and 150 is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups. A score between 151 and 200 is classified as "unhealthy," while an AQI score between 201 and 300 is classified as "very unhealthy." In such conditions, children, the elderly, and individuals with health issues are advised to stay indoors, and others should limit outdoor activities.
Additionally, an AQI score between 301 and 400 is considered "hazardous," posing a severe health risk to city residents. AQI is generally determined based on five types of pollutants: particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5), NO2, CO, SO2, and ozone (O3).
