Whole Country Shivers In Intense Cold

The entire country is shivering due to the intense cold. A mild cold wave is affecting five northern districts and one division. As a result, the cold has intensified, and the feeling of winter has settled in both day and night.

Despite the dense fog, which prevented the sun’s heat from reducing the chill, there is a possibility that the cold will slightly ease in Dhaka over the next couple of days. Daytime and nighttime temperatures likely to feel a little less chilly. 

According to weather forecaster Mohammad Omar Faruk from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, while the sun’s rays are not visible due to the fog, there has been a reduction in fog compared to the past two days in Dhaka. The dense fog in Dhaka and surrounding areas has started to dissipate, which might lead to a slight reduction in the cold.

Additionally, the weather forecast for the next six hours, starting from 7 AM, suggests that the sky will be temporarily cloudy, with mostly dry conditions. Some areas may experience moderate to dense fog. The daytime temperature in these regions could rise by 1-2 degrees Celsius. Winds from the north or northwest are expected to blow at a speed of 6-12 km/h.

On the other hand, according to the 72-hour forecast issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Friday night (January 3), a mild cold wave is sweeping through the northern districts of Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogura, Naogaon, Kushtia, and the Rangpur division.

The weather in the coming days is expected to remain dry with occasional cloud cover. Moderate to dense fog may persist across the country from midnight to morning, and might continue until noon in some areas. Due to the dense fog, air travel, inland river transport, and road communications may be temporarily disrupted.
