RAB raid Kalabagan club to bust casino

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have raided Kalabagan Krira Chakra, in search of a potential illegal casino.

The elite force started the drive at 7:10 pm on Friday after they had cordoned off the club for several hours.

RAB Executive Magistrate Md Gausul Azam and the club's president, Shafiqul Alam Firoz, were on the spot during the raid.

RAB sources citing intelligence reports said the club has been operating an illegal casino.

Earlier the day, RAB took the club president Shafiqul, who is a member of the ruling Awami League affiliate Krishak League’s central committee, into its custody.

Shafiqul was picked up from the club around 1:30 pm for questioning, RAB-2 Commanding Officer Ashique Billah told the media.

The moves come two days after RAB started busting illegal casinos across Dhaka on Sept 18. So far a leader of the ruling party student front Jubo League has been arrested over the matter.
