Buet bans student politics on the campus

Buet Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Saiful Islam on Friday afternoon announced a ban on all kinds of organizational student politics on the campus.

He said 19 students, accused in Abrar Fahad murder, will be suspended, reports UNB.

He made the announcement while speaking to Buet students over their 10-point demand.

Several hundred students of the university gathered in front of Buet Shaheed Minar from 11:20 am with placards and shouted slogans demanding capital punishment of Abrar’s killers.

Abrar, 21, a second-year student of the electrical and electronic engineering department of Buet, was beaten to death reportedly by BCL leaders at Sher-e-Bangla Hall of the university.

He was found dead on the staircase of the dormitory early Monday.

A total of 17 suspects have so far been arrested in the case.

Abrar’s father Barkatullah filed the case with Chawkbazar Police station on Monday evening accusing 19 people.

The case was transferred to the Detective Branch on Tuesday for investigation.
