Govt to buy Boro paddy directly from farmers

The government will buy six lakh metric tonnes of boro paddy directly from farmers this season, Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzak said today.

The authorities are preparing a farmers list up to the union level for a lottery so that no one gets deprived, the minister said at a program in International Chamber of Commerce Bangladesh (ICCB) in Dhaka.

However, the rate of paddy purchase was not announced yet.
