Law enforcers cordoned off two houses in Ishwardi Upazila of Pabna earlier today as unidentified criminals set explosive-like objects on the premises.
On information, a bomb squad from Dhaka reached the spot and began work on it.
Unidentified criminals set two bomb-like objects in front of the houses of Shafikul Islam Pramanik and Abdul Gaffar Pramanik at the Diar Baghoil area in the Upazila early today, said Bahauddin Faruquee, officer-in-charge (OC) of Ishwardi Police Station.
The objects are wrapped in polythene bags and connected with electric wires, the OC added.
Being informed, law enforcers, including police and Rab, rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area, he said.
Firefighters are also deployed in the area, he added.
Police and firefighters have already rescued the people from the houses and adjoining places, the police official said.
"The house owners are farmers and small traders by profession. We are investigating to find the people behind it," said Faruquee.
Speaking to local journalists, Shafikul said unidentified criminals earlier sent threatening letters to him, but he did not take it seriously.
