Thousands Join Janaza in B’baria Flouting Social Distancing Rule

Several thousand people attended Mawlana Jubayer Ahmed Ansari's namaz-e-janaza here Saturday at Bertola village in Sarail Upazila overlooking the possibility of coronavirus transmission.

The director of a nearby madrasah, Mawlana Jubayer Ahmed Ansari, passed away Friday night at his Bertola house.

Locals said around 50,000 people attended the janaza at about 10 am, defying the strict social distancing rule of the government.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) announced the nation as prone to virus contamination on Thursday evening, leading the government to place the country as a whole under virtual lockdown.

he DGHS has urged all to strictly abide by some specific restrictions, including holding meetings, gatherings and outside the movement.
