Banks in ‘Red Zones’ to Remain Closed: BB

Bank branches in Motijheel, Dilkhusha to remain open from 10 am to 2 pm

Banks will remain closed in 'Red Zone' areas where the lockdown will be enforced to contain coronavirus spread.

The Bangladesh Bank Circular said that the banks will generally keep their operations off in the Red Zone areas to be declared by the Health Directorate or the City Corporation or the District Administration.

"But if there is any clear orders from the authority concerned, they will perform restricted transactions from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and leave the branches open until 1:30 p.m. to carry out their own operations," said the circular released on Monday night.

It said that the new decision was taken in the context of the statement "Bangladesh Risk Zone-Based COVID-19 Containment Implementation Strategy / Guide" of the Health Directorate.

But the offices and offices of the banks, situated in the Red Areas, will stay accessible from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with the aid of the administration to promote the functioning of the other branches of the banks.

Bank branches based in Motijheel and Dilkhusha of Dhaka and Agrabad and Khatunganj of Chattagram will remain open for transactions from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and until 3 p.m. for their necessary operations.

The banks will remain open in the Yellow and Green zone from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for transactions and also until 4 p.m. for their own activities, according to the BB Circular.
