Vehicle Documents Renewal without Penalty by Dec 31

BRTA has allowed renewal of the expired vehicle documentation without  penalty until 31 December.

Fitness certificates, tax tokens and road permits may be updated by charging only daily taxes or charges, according to the order issued by the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA).

Considering the COVID-19 pandemic, it also allowed renewing the driving licences without penalty within an extended time.

The authority issued a gazette in this regard on July 08.

However, the BRTA said it would not offer such an option again in case of failure to avail it by the vehicle owners.

Many of the vehicle owners could not renew their fitness certificates and route permits due to the lockdown from March 26 to May 31.

In the budget for the current fiscal year, the government has increased the tax on private vehicle owners.

People having 1500CC cars have to pay Tk 25,000 as advance tax from the current FY instead of earlier Tk 15,000.
