Eid Being Celebrated at 40 Chandpur Villages

Residents of 40 villages in the district of Chandpur are celebrating Eid-ul-Azha today (Friday) in line with Saudi Arabia and other Middle East countries.

The villages are Hajiganj, Faridganj, Matlab North, Kachua and Shahrasti Upazilas.

The main congregation of Eid-ul-Azha was conducted at 10 a.m. at Pir Maulana Isahak Saheber Darbar Sharif Jame Mosque in Shadra village of Hajiganj Upazila, in compliance with government guidelines.

Late Maulana Ishaque initiated the custom of Eid celebrations in Chandpur in line with the celebrations in Saudi Arabia in 1931.

The devotees of these villages began to fast on the same date with the people of Saudi Arabia.

In the meantime, Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated in the country on Saturday.

The government advised Muslim devotees to avoid Eidgah or other open places for Eid congregations and to give mosque prayers to preserve prescribed health advice due to ongoing coronavirus pandemics in the region.
