Bangladesh Logs 28 More Deaths from COVID-19, New Cases 2,772

Twenty-eight people died from Covid-19 in the country in the last 24 hours as of Friday, with a death toll of 3,111.

In addition, 2,772 more individuals tested positive for the infection, for a total of 237,661 reported cases.

Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Friday afternoon.

Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 13,170 samples were collected and 12,614 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 1,176,809 samples have been tested in the country. 

With 2,176 new recoveries, a total of 135,136 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.

The deceased, of whom 22 were males and six females, belonged to the following age groups: two were between 21-30 years, three between 31-40, two between 41-50, seven between 51-60 years, ten between 61-70 and four were between 71-80 years of age.

Under division-wise categorization, 13 were taken from the Dhaka district, eight from Chattogram, two from Khulna, three from Rajshahi and one from the Barishal and Rangpur divisions.

All 28 of the deceased breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals.

Meanwhile, global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 672,062 as of Friday morning, according to the data by the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.

Moreover, 17,241,298 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed around the world.

Although cases of new infection are still on the increase among the infected world population, most of them are in mild conditions.

Of the 5,859,873 patients actually sick, 5,793,501 are in moderate care, which is 99 per cent, according to Worldometer's regular reports. In the other side, 66,372 (of the actually affected patients, only one quarter is in critical condition.

So far, 10,089,350 people have recovered.
