Khulna Court on Wednesday sentenced a man to death and five others to life imprisonment for murdering a Khalishpur Platinum Jubilee Jute Mill School student in Khulna in 2010.
Ashikur Rahim, District Judge and Session Judge of Khulna, handed down the verdict this noon.
The convicted individual is Rocky, the son of Abul Manna, from the Khalishpur area.
The five convicts who are sentenced to life imprisonment are: Al-Amin, son of Abu Sayed, Md Nazrul, son of Abdul Manna, Rabiul, son of Momrej, Milon, son of Nishar Ali Milon, and Mujib Hawlader, son of Ajijur Rahman Hawlader.
The court also fined Tk 20,000 each.
According to court sources, Bappi and his friend Raju went to the Platinum Jute Mill school grounds in Khalishpur on 10 October 2010 at 7 p.m. At that time, the miscreants had come to kill his friend Raju with a stick and iron over the previous enmity. The miscreants struck Bappy with a stick on his head when Bappi tried to save Raju. Then Bappi dropped down to the ground.
Later, locals took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) where duty doctor declared hiom dead at 11:05 pm.
Later, the victim’s elder brother was case filed with Khalishpur Police Station in this connection.
