Bangladesh’s Emergence, Bengali Nation’s Self-Identity Closely Linked with Bangabandhu: PM

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the rise of Bangladesh, its independence and the Bengali nation's self-identity are closely related to the life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation, reports UNB.

"We could get the chance to know the history of Bangladesh's emergence, its independence and self-identity of the Bengali nation if we study the life history of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman," she said.

At her official residence in Ganobhaban, the Prime Minister said this while unveiling the wrapping of the braille edition of Bangabandhu's 'Unfinished Memoirs.' The Braille edition of the book was published in six parts by the Social Welfare Ministry.

She said Bangabandhu's life is sketched in this book.

In addition, she said, this book contains the history of his struggle, from the Language Revolution to the country's independence, and from this book, everyone can get a lot of information.

She said that this book has already been published in 14 languages and permission has been sought to publish it in some other languages.

"Those who read this book, accept it widely," she added.

The history of the Language Movement and the war for independence was distorted after the assassination of the Father of the Nation and the name of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was removed from anywhere, Sheikh Hasina, Bangabandhu's eldest daughter, said.

"After publishing this book, we got slight relief from the history distortion," she said.

She stated that when the book based on the Pakistani intelligence branch began to be written, the history of the country's struggle, in particular the struggle of the Father of the Nation and the steps of independence, came out.

In this sense, she said that more books will be published in the future , based on Pakistani intelligence branch studies, although some have already been published.

The Prime Minister asked them, thanking the authorities concerned for publishing the book in braille, to ensure that this book will be available in the libraries where visually impaired people go, so that they can read this book easily and learn about Bangabandhu and the country's real history.

Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed also spoke at the programme.
