President Signs Ordinance on Death Penalty for Rape

President Abdul Hamid has promulgated an ordinance to increase the maximum penalty for rape from life imprisonment to the death penalty.

Earlier, in a regular meeting on Monday, the Cabinet approved a proposal for the 'Women and Children Repression Prevention (Amendment) Ordinance 2020' to amend the 'Women and Children Repression Act 2000' by including the provision of capital punishment for barbarous crime.
