Erfan Salim Put On 3-Day Remand

Mohammad Erfan Salim, son of lawmaker Haji Salim, has been placed on a 3-day remand for the attempt to kill an officer of Navy.

Lt Wasif Ahmed Khan of the Bangladesh Navy filed a case against Erfan and his associates at the Dhanmondi Police Station.  

Law enforcement officers raided Haji Salim's residence and detained Erfan and his bodyguard two days ago. Erfan's personal assistant was also captured from outside Dhaka.

The detainees are in quarantine for 14 days inside the Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj as part of the corona safety measure.

During the raid, law enforcers recovered huge wine, yaba and remote controlled talking device. A mobile court led by Executive Magistrate Sarwar Alam sentenced Erfan to imprisonment for 18 months for the offences. The court also jailed bodyguards Zahid for six months for abetting the crimes.
