COVID-19: BD Logs 22 More Deaths, Newly Infected 692

Bangladesh reported 22 more deaths from coronavirus in the last 24 hours till Saturday 8 a.m.

The country's death toll from the virus is now 7.756, according to a press release issued by the Directorate-General for Health Services (DGHS).

In the meantime, 692 people tested positive for Covid-19. The number of new cases of coronavirus in the country is now 521,382.

The infection rate of the latest day was 5.36 percent of the total samples, while the overall rate was 15.59 percent in the country to date. At 1.49 percent, the death rate stands.

During the same time, 785 patients were declared free of Covid-19, bringing the total number of recoveries to 466,064 with a recovery rate of 89.39 percent.

Among the latest day's victims, 15 were men and 7 were women. 21 of them died in different hospitals across the country while one at home.

Moreover, 17 of them hailed from Dhaka, two each from Chattogram and Rajshahi and one from Mymensingh division. 

Meanwhile, 12,523 samples were tested in 181 labs across the country in the past 24 hours. A total of 3,344,399 samples have been tested in the country so far.

The country's first Covid-19 case was reported on March 8 this year and the first death from the virus was reported on March 18.
