Taposh Terms Khokon As Insane

A day after former Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokon said that the incumbent Mayor Sheik Fazle Noor Taposh has lost his right to hold office, Taposh said that Khokon was speaking in delirium.

Terming Khokon as insane and his remark as personal resentment, Taposh said today that a responsible person should not make any ridiculous remarks that do not go with him.

The DSCC mayor made the remark after paying homage to the portrait of Bangabandhu at Dhanmondi on the occasion of Bangabandhu's Homecoming Day today.

"We do not spread personal resentment or baseless talk against anyone. What Sayeed Khokon is doing, is completely from personal resentment," said Taposh, adding, "His remark does not bother me."

"It was his personal opinion. It doesn't matter. And the allegation of not being able to pay the employees of the city corporation is just a misconception. It has no base," Taposh added.

He said that corruption occurs when someone takes money out of a promise to give back, accepts bribes, trades commissions to get a job, misappropriates government money, trades commissions to give loans, and uses government influence to take hostages from someone or something. Moreover, the allegation made is by no means an objective statement.

On Saturday, former DSCC mayor Sayeed Khokon accused current mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh of violating local government laws and failing to pay city corporation workers.

He alleged that his successor Taposh had lost his eligibility to continue on as the mayor of DSCC.
