NID Scam: Court Fixes March 3 for Submitting Probe Report

A Dhaka court on Monday fixed March 3 for submitting a probe report against JKG Health Care Chairman Dr Sabrina Arif Chowdhury in a case filed for possessing two national identity cards (NIDs).

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mamunur Rashid fixed the new date as the investigation officer (IO) failed to submit the report today.

Gulshan Thana Election Officer Abdul Momin Mia filed the case with Gulshan police station against Sabrina on August 30, 2020.

According to the case statement, Dr Sabrina who is now in jail for Covid-19 report forgery secured two National ID cards in 2009 and 2016.

Sabrina and her husband Ariful Haque Chowdhury are accused in a case filed over issuing fake Covid-19 certificates.

According to Voter Act 2009, the minimum punishment for acquiring dual NIDs is two years imprisonment.
