The High Court has extended the validity of all its bail and interim court orders by two more weeks, in light of the current lockdown.
A notification was issued in this regard by the registrar's office of the High Court Division on Sunday, reports media.
The notification said: “In cases where the accused has been granted bail for a specified period or in cases where bail has been granted from the High Court to a lower court on condition of surrender within a specified period or in cases where an interim order has been issued for a specified period, validity of bails and all types of interim orders in those cases has been extended by the next two weeks.”
A similar notification had been issued on April 5 as well.
It may be recalled that on April 11, the court administration had issued a notice saying: “Courts and tribunals will have to conduct proceedings for the disposal of bail pleas and urgent criminal applications through virtual presence from April 12 until further orders are issued, in a bid to curb the spread of Covid-19.”
