Police Recover College Student's Body from Flat in Dhaka's Gulshan

Police recovered body of a young girl from a rented flat in Dhaka's Gulshan area last night.

The deceased was identified as Mosarat Jahan Munia, a college student. Hailing from Cumilla, she used to live alone in the flat, police said.

Police officials said the girl called her sister in Cumilla and said she was in trouble. Her sister arrived in Dhaka and rushed to the flat. After breaking open the door, she found Munia's body hanging from the ceiling fan, reports media.

On information, police rushed to the spot.

Police initially found evidence that the girl was acquainted with the managing director of a major industrial group of the country, who used to visit her there, Sudip Chakrabarty, deputy commissioner of Gulshan division police, said.

Another police official said there are many photos of the man with the girl in the flat. Digital devices used by the deceased were seized for forensic analysis. Security guards of the building also told police that the man used to visit the girl there.

Sub-inspector Waliur Rahman, duty officer of Gulshan Police Station, said deceased's sister Nusrat Jahan filed a case for instigating/abetting suicide early today.

The SI refused to mention the name of the accused and asked to contact senior officials. Another police official said the man who visited the deceased has been made the lone accused in the case.

Abul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Gulshan Police Station, is investigating the cases.
