Govt Considering to Resume Public Transport Services before Eid: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said the government is actively considering resuming public transport services -- on condition of complying with the health rules – before Eid considering the public interest.

The Awami League general secretary said this at a regular virtual briefing from his official residence in the capital on Saturday, reports media.

The Minister also urged the transport owners and workers not to resort to protests over the issue. "Be patient," was his message to the aggrieved owners and workers.

Earlier, road transport leaders demanded the government to resume public transport considering their sufferings.

They will stage demonstrations across the country on May 2 and will give a memorandum to deputy commissioners in every district on May 4 to press home their demands.
