3 Children Drown in Kurigram

Three children drowned in a waterbody at Baldia village in Bhurungamari Upazila of Kurigram district on Sunday. 

The deceased were identified as Shefali, 5, daughter of Apu Mia, Sadia, 5, daughter of Saddam Hossain, and Jesmine, 5, daughter of Zahrul Islam of the village.

The victims were cousins.

The three went to the nearby Sankosh River for bathing and remained missing since Sunday afternoon, reports UNB.

Getting no whereabouts of the three children for a long time, local people went to the river and found the floating bodies of the children, said Mahbubul Alam, officer-in-charge of Kachakata Police Station.

A pall of gloom descended in the area over the death of the children.
