Govt Scraps ‘Khichuri Project’

The Government scrapped the controversial "khichuri training" project, which was part of the primary school feeding program.

The decision was made today during a meeting of the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (Ecnec), which was chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

1,000 government officials were meant to travel abroad as part of the effort to improve their knowledge on khichuri.

"Khichuri has been left out of the proposed school meal program. The premier has asked that an alternative to the feeding program be found because children' studies will be affected if khichuri is served in schools "After the meeting, Planning Minister Abdul Mannan spoke to media.

The minister further said, "The Prime Minister also asked us to choose between biscuits and milk. The primary and mass-education ministry has been tasked with identifying several meal systems."

Following the revelation of the "Khichuri project" last year, the public criticized it very much.
