Millions of people have been leaving Dhaka to celebrate Eid ul Azha in different parts of the country since the government announced the relaxation of coronavirus restrictions. Of these, about 17 lakh people left Dhaka on Thursday (July 15) and Friday (July 16).

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar made the announcement on social media Facebook on Sunday (July 18th).

Mustafa Jabbar wrote in his Facebook post that like last Eid, BTRC gave an account of the SIMs that left Dhaka. A total of 16 lakh 93 thousand 687 SIM users left Dhaka on July 15 and 16.

In this regard, Mustafa Jabbar said, I have received the information today. I have published it on Facebook. With these statistics, it cannot be said with certainty that so many people have left Dhaka. The number of people may be less than this. However, it is difficult to say what percentage will be less.

He said it was basically an account of SIMs going out of Dhaka. Not the people's account. Because many people under the age of 18 have also gone but they do not have a SIM. Again, two or three SIMs for each person. Someone's husband has two or three SIMs but his wife has one. Again many families have children; they do not have mobile and SIM.

"It seems to me that far less people have left Dhaka on Eid-ul-Azha than on the last Eid-ul-Fitr," he said.

However, those concerned think that the number of people leaving Dhaka is more than the number of mobile users. Because most of them are leaving Dhaka with their families. Not everyone in a family uses mobile, especially young people. Again, there are many who use multiple SIMs.
