Fourteen-day strict lockdown began from 6:00 am today (Friday) after the end of Eid-ul-Azha holiday.

The government earlier declared the lockdown in order to curb the coronavirus infections in the country, reports media.

Meanwhile, the presence of people in the alleys of the capital has not been noticed yet. However, rickshaws, motorbikes, and private vehicles were seen plying on the road without any hesitation. There was a presence of rented motorcycles in front of Shankar and City College junctions in the capital. Those who landed at Sadarghat on the launch are returning to their destinations on foot without getting any vehicle. Many were seen crowded into vans and rickshaws. Hundreds of people were seen exercising in Ramna Park area.

According to State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain, this lockdown will be stricter than the one imposed last time. Police, the para-military Bangladesh Border Guard, and the Army will keep a strict vigil on the roads.

Offices, courts, garment factories, and all other export-oriented industries, everything to be precise, will remain closed. Strict restrictions will remain as before, he said.
