The government has allowed all types of public transport and naval vessels
to operate till 12 pm on Sunday (August 1) to facilitate the workers
to return to work in the wake of the reopening of garment factories.
BGMEA president Farooq Hasan confirmed the matter to media.
On the other hand, the Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority
(BIWTA) has said that passenger launches will operate in all districts of the
south-western part of the country and on the Shimulia-Banglabazar,
Paturia-Daulatdia route till 12 pm on Sunday.
BIWTA Chairman Commodore Golam Sadeq confirmed the matter on
Saturday (July 31) evening.
State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said the
decision was taken to ply long-distance buses till 12 noon on Sunday in view of
the immediate suffering of the people. This time may be extended further
considering the situation.
