DMP Arrests 481 Lockdown Rules Violators

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 481 people from different areas in the capital for breaching the government’s directives on the ninth consecutive day of the ongoing 14-day strict lockdown (shutdown).

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of DMP’s Media and Public Relations Iftekharul Islam told the media that DMP’s eight crime and traffic divisions conducted mobile courts in different areas here from morning to evening, according to BSS.

He said mobile courts fined 202 individuals Taka two lakh six thousand and 710. Besides, 440 vehicles were fined Tk 10 lakh and 45 thousand under the Road Transport Act.

The 14-day strict lockdown, which started at 6 am on Friday, will continue till 12 noon on August 5, keeping all types of shops, public transports and industries closed, including imposing restrictions on human movement without special cases.

Earlier, on Friday DMP arrested 361 people from different parts of the capital for coming out on streets unnecessarily. The arrests and fines were less than those of the other day due to holiday.

Besides, the mobile court fined 108 people Tk 67, 940. On the other hand, the traffic division of police fined Tk eight lakh 17 thousand against 321 vehicles on the day.
