City Bank has filed a general diary with Gulshan Police
Station, stating that a vested quarter is harassing the bank's top officials
over media allegations alleging the bank's managing director paid for actor
Pori Moni's car.
On Monday, City Bank's chief of court operations, Gazi M
Shawkat Hasan filed the general diary on the bank's behalf.
Shawkat Hasan stated in the statement that media reports
about a City Bank high official's relationship with the actress are
"false" and "fabricated". According to media sources, a
group of fraudsters and extortionists is attempting to harass the bank's top
official.
A vested quarter is smearing the bank's image in the
media and on social media, as well as employing various methods to illegally
extort money from the bank. According to Shawkat Hasan's general diary, these
types of operations produced social unease and psychological concern among bank
officials.
The bank further stated that legal action against the the blackmailer-fraud group is important because else the bank and its officials
maybe hurt in the future.
Earlier on Sunday, City Bank Managing Director and CEO
Mashrur Arefin denied paying for actor Pori Moni's automobile in a Facebook
post, according to a newspaper article.
Before the "boat club" incident, the banker
claimed he had never seen Pori Moni, had never heard her name, and had never
spoken to her.
Pori Moni was detained in a raid on her Banani apartment
in the capital on 4 August, and is presently in a new remand in the case filed
with Banani Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) also claimed to have
seized a large amount of foreign liquor, LSD, and ice from her home.
