Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members arrested a man named Abdur Rahman, 30, from Benapole Amrakhali check post in Jashore with a total of 83,000 coins of Tk 2 and Tk 1 while he was trying to smuggle those coins to India.

He was arrested at noon on Saturday (August 14). Detained Abdur Rahman is the son of Abul Kalam of Kagmari village under Benapole Port Thana.

Subedar Shahin Rahman, in-charge of Amrakhali check post at Benapole of Jashore 49 BGB Battalion, said, "we came to know through secret sources that a man named Abdur Rahman is coming to Benapole by easy bike from Navaran with huge amount of coins to be smuggled to India." On the basis of such news, the easybike was stopped at Amrakhali check post and he was detained along with 83,000 coins in 7 sacks.

Detainee Abdur Rahman admitted that he was taking the coins to India for smuggling. Later, he was handed over to Benapole Port Police Station.
