City Bank Files Case over Pori Moni Issue

City Bank has filed a case against the propagandists of social media (Facebook, YouTube, website) ) for defaming City Bank's board of directors, managing director and senior officials by involving top officials of the Bank with actress Pori Moni.

City Bank First Vice-President (Head of Court) Gazi M Shawkat Hasan filed the case with Gulshan Police Station on Saturday night (August 14). Case No. 12 dated 14-8-2021.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gulshan Police Station Abul Hasan said, "We have started investigation." Action will be taken against those involved.

According to the case statement, false and fabricated information is being spread on social media (Facebook, YouTube, website) by defaming City Bank's board of directors, managing director and senior officials in the Pori Moni issue. This is tarnishing the reputation of the bank, its board members, managing directors and other officials.

Allegedly, the anonymous accused in collusion with each other are spreading false and defamatory information on Facebook, YouTube channel and other websites using fabricated information without the permission of City Bank's board of directors, managing director and other officials.

It is also mentioned in the statement that the video is being spread with false and defamatory information in an attempt to tarnish the reputation of City bank, to dishonor the board of directors and managing director of the bank and to implement the base purpose of extorting money from the bank in an unscrupulous manner.

The statement also included links to several videos involving City Bank's board of directors and managing director.

On August 11, the City Bank authorities filed a general diary (GD) with the same police station for fear of extortion by spreading false information in some media and social media involving City bank in the Pori Moni issue.

The bank's managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) Masroor Arefin said that a case would be filed against the media outlets for spreading false and fabricated news involving the bank.
