A court today banned five persons from leaving the country, including Sonia Mehzabin, the owner of the e-commerce portal e-Orange, and her spouse Masukur Rahman.

After the hearing, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury issued the order.

Amanullah, Bithi Akter, and Kawsar Ahmed are among the others who have been banned from traveling overseas.

Sonia and her husband were sentenced to prison on Tuesday after they appeared in court.

Earlier, on behalf of the aggrieved customers, Md Taherul Islam filed a case against five people, including the owners, with Gulshan Police Station accusing them of embezzling around Tk1,100 crore.

The case was filed on Monday night following a protest of hundreds of e-Orange customers in front of Gulshan Police Station.
