RMCH Logs Ever-Lowest 4 Deaths in Covid-19 Unit

Rajshahi Medical College and Hospital (RMCH) recorded ever lowest of 4 death at its Covid-19 unit during the last 24 hours till 6am today since the second wave of coronavirus hit the country around four months back, reports BSS.

With the new fatality, the death toll caused by the lethal virus reached 306 so far this month while the number of casualty was 566 in July and 405 in June, health officials said. 

RMCH Director Brigadier General Dr Shamim Yazdani told newsmen that among the fresh four deceased, all of them were male.

Two of the deceased were the residents of Rajshahi and one each from Chapainawabganj and Kustia districts, he said.

"Among the deaths, two tested positive for Covid-19 and two had its symptoms," he said.

Thirty more patients were admitted to the designated Covid wards of the hospital during the time, raising total patients to 192, including 84 tested positive.

Twenty-nine other patients returned home from the Covid-19 unit after being cured during the time.

Yazdani said the infection rate has increased again in Rajshahi to some extent compared to the previous day.

A total of 47 people have been detected positive for Covid-19 after testing 247 samples in Rajshahi's two laboratories on Thursday, showing 19.03 percent positivity rate against 16.81 percent on Wednesday.

Yazdani said the death of Covid-19 patients and persons with its symptoms comparatively has decreased.

Besides, the number of admitted patients and infection has also declined.

So, the number of designated wards and beds in the hospital reduced, he added.
