The Health Directorate
has instructed those who did not receive the second dose of Oxford-AstraZeneca at
the scheduled time to be given the dose quickly from any center.
The directive was
issued in a circular signed by Shamsul Haque, member secretary of the
vaccination management task force committee and line director of the department,
on Tuesday (August 31).
It said that since
the introduction of the Covid-19 (AstraZeneca) vaccine on February 7, a section
of the population registered for the shortage of supplies has been waiting a
long time for the second dose with the first dose. As there is currently an
adequate supply of these vaccines, steps need to be taken to expedite
vaccination of those waiting for the second dose.
Those receiving the
first dose of the vaccine (AstraZeneca) must show the vaccine card, administe
the second dose of Oxford vaccine from any center subject to availability, and
update the information by scanning the QR code.
HIV, AHI, health
assistants and family welfare assistants will tell people who have missed out
on the second dose of the vaccine during a home visit to do so, and will
encourage them to get vaccinated quickly, the statement said.
The first dose
should be given along with the second dose from the supplied Covid-19 (AstraZeneca)
vaccine. The first dose of AstraZeneca must be completed by September 9.
At all levels, daily VLMIS vaccinations, vaccinations and current stock information need to be updated regularly and accurately. Instructions were requested for the implementation of these measures on an urgent basis.
