Rapid Action Battalion detained four suspected operatives of banned militant outfit Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh in Mymensingh early Saturday, reports media.

Identities of the detained persons could not be known immediately.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-14 conducted a drive in the city’s Khagdahar area near the bank of Brahmaputra River, said Md Rokonuzzaman, commanding officer of RAB-14.

The JMP activists opened fire on the battalion personnel prompting them to retaliate with fires for self-defence, he said.

After the exchange of fires, the RAB detained four JMB men.

Besides, a foreign made revolver loaded with bullets and three machetes, among others, were also seized from their possession, the RAB official added.
