Bangladesh Won't Recognize Taliban's Interim Govt For Now: State Min

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam has said that Bangladesh would not recognize the interim government of Afghanistan for now.

He told reporters on Wednesday (September 8) afternoon. The state minister said Dhaka would support the UN and EU in taking initiatives for the development of Afghanistan.

The Taliban on Tuesday (September 7) announced a caretaker government in Afghanistan headed by Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund. Taliban spokesman Jabihullah Mujahid made the announcement.

Mollah Mohammad Hasan Akhund will lead the new government as the head of the caretaker government. His deputy will be Taliban co-founder Abdul Ghani Baradar. Sirajuddin Haqqani, the head of the Haqqani Network, has been appointed acting interior minister of the Afghanistan.
