Expelled Awami League leader Helena Jahangir has been granted bail in a separate case filed under the Drugs, Special Powers and Fraud Act at Pallabi Police Station. However, Helena did not get bail in the case filed under the Digital Security Act. So even though she got bail in two cases, she is not being released.

Judge KM Imrul Kayes of the Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court passed the order on Tuesday (September 21).

Earlier (August 17), the court granted bail to Helena in a case under the Telecommunication Regulation Act at Pallabi Police Station.

Over the past few years, Helena Jahangir has become recognized as a well-known politician, businessman and woman entrepreneur. She became controversial around a poster of an organization called 'Awami Chakrijibi League'. She was expelled from the post of member of the sub-committee on women's affairs of the Awami League.

On the night of July 29, RAB arrested Helena from her house in Gulshan. Foreign liquor, illegal walkie-talkie sets, casino equipment, foreign currency and deer hides were seized from her flat.

On August 3, the court granted Helena Jahangir a 14-day remand in four separate cases. The court granted a total of eight days’ remand in four cases in Mirpur police station and Pallabi police station in the Telecommunication Act case.

A three-day remand was granted in the case of the Digital Security Act and the Narcotics Control Act of Gulshan Police Station.

Helena Jahangir was granted a three-day remand on July 30 in a case filed under the Gulshan Police Station's Digital Security Act.
