Truck-covered
van owners and workers have called off a 72-hour strike. The announcement was
made at noon on Wednesday (September 22) in response to their demands.
Earlier, Home
Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal held a meeting with the owners and workers of
the truck-covered van-prime mover at the Home Ministry around 12 noon on Wednesday
(September 22). The meeting was attended by 18 leaders of the Bangladesh Truck
& Covered Van Owners' Association and the Bangladesh Truck Driver Workers’
Federation.

Maqbool Ahmed and Secretary-General Chowdhury Zafar Ahmed, President of
Bangladesh Truck Driver Workers’ Federation Talukder Md. Monir and other
leaders including Secretary-General Waji Ullah were present.
Earlier, the
program started at 6 am on Tuesday (September 21). After that, the workers took
position at several points of the road in different parts of the country. Bangladesh
Truck-Covered Van Owners’ Association and Bangladesh Truck Driver Workers’
Federation have started a 72-hour nationwide strike to press home their
15-point demand.
