Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said Bangladesh Police has been working to ensure sustainable security in the country.

Appreciating the overall security arrangements taken by police, he said,

"We all are working for implementation of the sustainable development goal of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. And the prerequisite for the sustainable development is 'sustainable security' for which police force is working."

Kamal, also a valiant freedom fighter, said that Sarodio Durgo Utsad is going on across the country and in Dhaka city many puja mandaps are now crowded with devotees.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken appropriate measures to ensure the overall security of the large gatherings at puja mandaps, he said, reports BSS.

The minister visited Tejgaon Sarbojanin Puja Mandap, Media Para Puja Mandap at Karwan Bazar, Shahinbagh Sarbojanin Puja Mandap at Civil Aviation under Tejgaon and Sri Sri Radhakrishna Mandir premises and Sri Sri Radhakrishna and Matree Mondir at Sher-e-Bangla Agriculture University and monitored security arrangements last night.

The home minister and DMP Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam delivered speeches and exchanged views with the devotees.

"The DMP commissioner is a smart, efficient and patriotic police officer. Around 17 crore people are living in the country and of them, two crore are in Dhaka. If the law and order situation in Dhaka is good, then the law and order situation in Bangladesh is good. And the DMP commissioner is carrying out this difficult task very efficiently," the minister said.

Kamal further said that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is materializing the dream of Bangabandhu as his successor, which he could not implement.

Exchanging greetings, the DMP Commissioner said,

"Bangladesh is a shining example of communal harmony. Sarodio Durga Puja is being celebrated in about 32,000 puja mandaps across Bangladesh and so far, no untoward incident has been reported."
"Our one-day celebration should not be a cause of sorrow for the rest of our lives amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. We all will follow the health guidelines during the festival," he added.

Shafiqul further said,

"Today, we are on the door step of materializing the dream of a hunger-and poverty-free Bangladesh that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had dreamt earlier."

DMP Additional Commissioners AKM Hafeez Akhter and Md Munibur Rahman along with senior officials and leaders of the puja udjapan committees were present.
